"How much does a swim spa cost?" is the first question almost everyone asks — and the honest answer is "it depends," because the range is wide and the sticker is only part of it. This article gives you realistic orientation on pricing and, just as importantly, the costs beyond the price tag.

On the numbers below

Prices change with time, region, dealer, and model year. The ranges here are rough orientation only — always confirm current pricing with a local dealer. We deliberately avoid pretending to quote exact figures that would be out of date by the time you read them.

Rough price tiers

As a general orientation only:

TierRoughly what you getTypical current
EntrySmaller shells, simpler features, value brandsJet propulsion
Mid-rangeLarger size, better build & insulation, more featuresStrong jets or propeller
PremiumTop-tier swim, dual-temp options, best build & warrantyPropeller / paddlewheel
Entry models start in the low five figures; mid-range lands mid-to-high five figures; premium goes higher. Confirm locally.

What drives the purchase price

  • Size. More water and more shell cost more to build and ship.
  • Current technology. Propeller and paddlewheel systems sit at the premium end; jet systems are more affordable.
  • Build quality. Better shells, frames, and insulation raise the price — and often lower lifetime cost.
  • Dual-temperature. Two independent zones add cost up front and in running.
  • Features and warranty. Lighting, audio, automation, advanced water care, and stronger warranties all add up.

The costs beyond the sticker

The price you're quoted for the spa is rarely the price you'll actually spend:

  • Foundation — an engineered pad or structure for the weight.
  • Electrical — a dedicated high-amp circuit by a licensed electrician (details).
  • Delivery — freight and placement, sometimes a crane if access is tight.
  • Running cost — mostly heating, driven by insulation and climate.
  • Maintenancewater care, filters, covers, and eventual wear items.

Always ask for the all-in installed price

Get one number that includes the spa, the pad, the electrical, and delivery. Comparing all-in installed prices — not bare sticker prices — is how you avoid a nasty surprise and compare two dealers fairly.

Think ten years, not one

A cheaper unit with thin insulation and proprietary parts can cost more to own over a decade than a pricier, better-built one. Estimate the total cost of ownership before deciding what's "expensive."
